| Understanding the process of political change in China by exploring the various underlying driving forces: marketization, globalization, social dislocation, and rampant corruption, etc.; how these are reshaping the socioeconomic foundation of the party-state, compelling changes in governance structure and in the ways power is contested and redistributed; how the CCP's responses affect the outcome, and how it is transforming itself in the process of epic change.
